Workshops in Cadiz
The photos show Mohamed B. receiving his diploma for the technology course at the Don Bosco Foundation, Mamadou B. taking part in a round table organised by the El Puerto de Santa María Host Network and Mamadou B. carrying out health procedures at his health centre.
The pilot programme in Cadiz is composed of four young men and their host families. The programme aspires to help them adapt to a new city and be able to perform everyday tasks on their own. For this reason, all young men are taking part in different workshops and classes to achieve the goals they had set for themselves. The young Mohamed B. participated in Spanish language lessons, simple financial classes, daily living workshops, social skills and workshops for employment (creating a CV, facing an interview, presenting oneself to hand in a CV) . He has been learning the occupation of a stable hand in an occupational centre and is currently doing a work placement in a farm school. In September, he will start ESPA (Secondary Education for Adults). Mohamed B. also attends boxing classes, where he has created a group of friends with whom he socializes and goes out. Ayoub A. and Abdelhalim M. participated in workshops on health management, and employment (registering with the Andalusian Service of Employment, creating a CV, dealing with an interview, job search applications), social skills workshops and economic management. Both young men have graduated from their respective studies and are now working. In September, they will continue their studies. They both enjoy football and meet up with their group of friends to play matches. Mamadou B. takes part in activities to find training courses, workshops for employment (creating a CV, youth guarantee, facing an interview, job search applications), and workshops on social skills, economic management and healthy leisure. The young man started working in mid-April and has been working since. He has several groups of friends with whom he goes out for walks or plays video games. In addition to the above, the host families are offering weekly mentoring sessions to all young men.

Social Activities in Seville
During the Partners Transnational meeting in Seville, some participants joined the group of partners. A Theoretical-Practical Workshop for the Development of Social Skills was organized, where people could work with tools for emotional management and self-knowledge, social skills, integration in the host country and socio-labour insertion. The workshops also joined participants from the EMBRACIN programme in Jaén and Cádiz. Some of the participants also joined some more activities with the partners of the project, such as the presentation of Professor Caló’s book in the house of the province, the presentation of the project during the Press Conference and finally the concert by the Spanish-Senegalese group, One Pac & Fellows.

Celebrations and activities in Jaén
During the month of April, not many activities were organised due to the celebration of the month of Ramadan, as it is a period of reflection and meditation. A social skills workshop was held and FAMSI collaborated in a concert held in Jaén. In May, a celebration of the end of Ramadan was held, in which the beneficiaries shared this important moment of the Muslim calendar with other beneficiaries of the organisation and with part of the technical staff, as a family. In addition, the search for courses and non-labour practices was retaken for those beneficiaries who had recently finished a course, as well as for the new incorporations. A workshop on Gender Equality was also held, and they attended the art exhibition “Violeta, women who leave their mark”. The month of June began with a follow-up meeting in which issues related to the development of the itineraries of the beneficiaries, how they are within the pilot experience, the development of coexistence, etc. were discussed. As a result of this meeting, a housing management workshop was held, in which emphasis was again placed on the maintenance of cleanliness, how to properly clean specific areas of the home, such as the kitchen or bathroom, among other aspects. In addition, there was a workshop on criminal records, given by the organisation’s lawyer, and another workshop on acquiring culinary skills, in which, at the same time as teaching how to cook certain dishes, an unbeatable time of conviviality was shared. Last, the beneficiaries actively participated in the concentration in the centre of Jaén for the deaths at the border, showing their solidarity and support towards the fight for the rights of migrants.

One of the goals that we set up with one of the participants at the start of the project was how to learn to ride a bike. She was clear about this and has shown such commitment and willpower in achieving this goal being fully aware of how this will enhance her life in many different ways.
